This alteration and addition of a petite workers cottage on Tinakori Road creates additional and reconfigured spaces to maximise the character home's tight site whilst retaining the essence of the existing house.
The project involved a high level of coordination with various consultants including an interior designer, geotechnical and structural engineers, archaeologist and thermal modelling consultant.
Situated within a flood zone, the house was lifted and temporarily relocated before new piles and foundations were laid. We extended the buildings footprint out the rear of the site to create a new Dining and Kitchen space, opening out to the garden. Considered skylights were added to bring natural light into the house. Along with bespoke joinery and a rich use of materials, the house has also been retrofitted with a holistic high quality heating and ventilation system and new thermal envelope.
