The brief for this Raumati Addition was to create a private space for our Clients, whilst refurbishing and altering their existing home to enable larger, connected spaces for socialising. As an ex-Interior Designer, the Client collaborated with us on the project, carrying out joinery design and colour selection to truly make the project her own.

We designed a contemporary addition to visually complement yet hold its own in relation to the existing house. Dramatic eaves signify the new Studio and new Main bedroom, with a set down link to the existing house which includes the new ensuite, bath space and wardrobes. Stained black vertical timber cladding sets apart new from existing and allows it to float above the garden.

 

The existing 1950s home was carefully reconfigured to provide a seamless connection between the new and existing spaces, whilst opening out to the well-established garden and views towards Kapiti Island.
