MORNINGTON ADDITION
Alterations and Additions | Wellington
The brief for this 1920’s bungalow was to add another bedroom and bathroom and provide a better connection to the outdoor spaces. We did this by instead adding another living space connecting to the existing kitchen and combining the laundry with a new second bathroom.
The existing living space then became an additional bedroom. This therefore achieved the required spaces but also enabled the layout to better connect to the garden via a new deck and gave the opportunity to keep the existing kitchen intact. As the house is in a valley, and living spaces lacked direct sunlight, the new addition roofline was pitched to enable a tall north facing window to bring light into the new living room and connecting existing kitchen creating a warm, light-filled family space.
